As part of Oslo Innovation Week 2020 we host the event Innovation in the Circular Economy – A joint French Norwegian perspective Tuesday September 22 from 16:00 – 18:00.

France passed an anti-waste law for a circular economy February 2020 with measures that will fundamentally change the production methods of companies and the consumption patterns of the citizens. It is an ambitious adaptation of the corresponding EU plans and directives.

French businesses and industries welcome the new legislation and its clear timelines and targets ensuring predictability and a level playing field. For businesses it will ultimately pay off to develop and employ sustainable business models.

In this session French and Norwegian members of parliament and environment ministries discuss public incentives for fostering innovation in the Circular Economy. We also set the scene with results from the Norwegian Circularity Gap Report focusing on the potential for resource effectiveness and waste reduction whilst maintaining competitive edge and employment.

Following their discussion we hear the views of international companies in two industry panels. The first panel discusses the electronic waste issue and includes speakers from Suez Environment, Signify Norway and Schneider Electric. The second panel discusses the packaging issue and plastics in the trade sector with panelists from the French federation for Food-processing industry, the French trade organization for the cosmetics industry, CITEO and Coca Cola.
