As a leading producer responsibility organisation for electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and batteries, RENAS has a clear objective: to ensure environmentally sound and efficient collection, treatment, and recycling. Our work will always comply with applicable regulations and certification requirements, and encourage the use of Best Available Technology (BAT). This includes a systematic and continuous follow-up and improvement of our environmental management system, ensuring ongoing enhancement of our environmental performance.
Our Responsibilities and Commitments:
- Cost-Effective Producer Responsibility: We ensure that our members meet their legal obligations related to the collection and treatment of WEEE and waste batteries. Through our system, we facilitate a well-functioning and cost-effective approach to producer responsibility.
- Nationwide Collection and Logistics: We develop and optimise collection models that ensure WEEE and waste batteries are collected in an efficient and environmentally sound manner. We make it easy for waste owners to deliver their waste to approved facilities.
- High Standards for Treatment: We work closely with treatment facilities to ensure that WEEE and waste batteries are processed in an environmentally responsible way. Treatment takes place as locally as possible. We encourage the use of innovative methods and the best available technology to minimise environmental impact.
- No Toxic Substances Released into the Environment: We work systematically to identify and remove hazardous substances from the material cycle. This includes continuous improvement of methods for detection, removal, and safe destruction or disposal of harmful substances.
- Information and Advocacy: RENAS is a proactive source of information for businesses, consumers, and authorities. We promote awareness around proper handling of WEEE and waste batteries, as well as the benefits of waste sorting and recycling. We encourage authorities to use producer responsibility as a tool to achieve more ambitious material recycling targets.
- Circular Economy and Resource Utilisation: RENAS is a driving force for achieving the highest possible material recycling and optimal use of critical raw materials. We work to ensure that recovered materials are reintroduced into new production, thereby reducing the need for virgin resources.
- Innovation and Collaboration: We actively participate in research and development projects that promote new solutions for material recycling. Through collaboration with industry, authorities, and research communities, we help develop new value chains and strengthen the circular economy.
RENAS will continue to be a driver for a more circular and sustainable value chain for EEE and batteries. Our commitment is to deliver real, practical, and profitable solutions that contribute to better resource utilisation.
